About Best in Ogden

Why it exists

Search for a plumber or a roofer in Ogden and the results mix real local businesses with firms from Salt Lake and Davis County, national call centers, lead resellers and, in some trades, outright spam. They all look the same in the results. When we checked pest control in October 2026, three listings on throwaway web addresses with a handful of reviews sat right next to established local operators.

Best in Ogden is the list someone would give you if they had already done that checking. It covers 18 trades, with room for 10 businesses in each.

How it works

Businesses apply. We check them against the Best in Ogden Standard: based in the Ogden area, with Ogden as a home market, and locally owned and operated. Then we check licenses, insurance and review history against their sources. Businesses that pass get a listing, and we write it ourselves from what we verified, so every page reads the same way and none of it is sales copy.

When you contact a business from its listing, your message goes to that business only. It is never sent to a group of competitors.

How it makes money

Listed businesses pay a flat annual fee to hold their slot, and only after they have passed the checks. That's the only income. It isn't charged per lead, it doesn't buy a higher position (the order rotates monthly), and it can't buy a slot in a trade that's already full. Homeowners never pay anything.

• Send your inquiry to more than the one business you contacted
• Sell your details, or pass them to anyone beyond the business you chose to contact
• List more than ten businesses in a trade
• Let a business write its own listing
• Show a credential we haven't checked
